We are a professional, middle-aged couple who ordered a custom sectional in August 09, paying several thousand dollars up front. When we had not received a delivery update by early October, I called our salewoman, who was out. She later left a flat message that the manufacturer had run out of fabric and our order would be delayed several weeks. Weeks later, I talked to the owner to voice concerns that they had been slack on communication. I was polite, but firm and said that we had expected more from them in business transactions involving this much money and wondered what they would consider doing to adjust for this. The owner responded by telling me that the saleswoman had just lost her baby and that was why she had dropped the ball. My husband and I were speechless that the owner would unexpectedly reveal this sort of personal tragedy to customers. I could not continue the conversation, said so, said goodbye and hung up. As I told her later, she could have simply said there were some staff issues going on. We had a hard time getting past this as we kept wondering how we could use a large sectional every day knowing the owner trotted out the death of a child, especially since she continued to see nothing wrong with it. Things devolved from there and we finally refused their offers and the sectional. The bottom line here is that the owner thought it was completely OK to use the personal tragedy of an employee to soften up a complaining customer and we were too put off by delay, poor communication, then "too much information" to get past it.
We have bought two recliners, two sofas, and a curio from Gabriel. They are of the highest quality, both their product and their service. We will never go anywhere else.
Don't trust em. Better places to buy from.
I live about 150 miles from this store, but my daughter encouraged me to give it a try. It's a wonderful showroom, and the service I experienced was outstanding! They delivered the furniture FREE and spent many HOURS helping me decide (days, actually). I never felt rushed. The furniture is outstanding... my husband does wood working on the side and often remarks how well made our set is. Also, I had comparatively shopped online and Gabriel's was VERY competitive. Well worth the inconvenience in travel for us.
$2,700 spent on a couch and chair from Gabriel Furniture. In a year's time the fabric on the chair tore apart. Walmart furniture holds up longer. They tell us it is not repairable and offered $300 store credit. For what do we can buy a third of a new chair that will last another year. We thought they sold quality furniture. Unfortunately it's just high prices, not high quality.
Do not do business with this place. Very untrustworthy. Chair took 8 weeks to be delivered to store. And in that time, financing and the entire deal changed. I was insulted on the phone by two different associates. One told me I couldn't afford the chair. Pretty insulting. Then she told me the conversation was over because I was offended and yelling at her. Probably a wise move on her part as I couldn't believe what she said to me.
We bought on the day of sale, they rushed us in and rushed us out. Thought we had a good transaction and was please. Decided to finance it as we were expecting our first child and didn't want to spend cash all at once. When it came time to pick up chair, they expected full payment before we could take it home.
