As a midwife myself, I knew that BirthWise was the only place around that I would trust with my care. The midwives are incredibly evidence-based and offer above and beyond what is considered the "standard of care." Aside from that though, they give personalized and compassionate care that is unrivaled in the valley. I felt very safe and confident in the midwives that saw me prenatally and attended my birth. Having worked in hospitals myself, I can say that the care and experience that I was afforded from having a home birth with these midwives is unlike anything you would ever find in a hospital birth.
Best care ever! They are so compassionate and did such a great job. I'm a nurse so I'm a little more sensitive to standards of care and they go above and beyond! They took so much time to make sure I felt safe and comfortable. I can't say enough about how great my experience was!

I'm a bit late in posting this, but I cannot rate BirthWise high enough!! I was really intimidated about the idea of giving birth and the midwives and assistants were just amazing!! I LOVED our home water birth with Ann Marie and Julie and would not change a thing for next time! Their calm presence really helped me to relax and they were so supportive of everything we wanted to do! If we are still in this area for baby number 2, we will most definitely be using BirthWise again! The birth of our daughter was beautiful in every way and everything I hoped for!! I praise the Lord for His goodness and I thank the wonderful ladies at BirthWise for their genuine care and support!!
Loved everything about my experience! Jill and Ann Marie were amazing and really cared and supported me and my family. Awesome water birth in the blue room bought us or 4th child in the most pleasant and relaxing birth experience. Everything I could have hoped for!
I came to Jill when I was about 5 months pregnant with my fourth child. I had an out of hospital birth experience prior to seeing her but with a different midwife. I explained to her that I had had high blood pressure issues with each of my previous births except for one. I asked at the initial appointment if I would be unqualified for homebirth due to gestational hypertension and she told me that we could try natural remedies to control my blood pressure, she reassured me that I would be fine to try for homebirth but that she would transfer me if needed. I told her that the Brewer Pregnancy diet had worked for me in the past but she said she did not recommend it due to it having too much protein. She came highly recommended and I decided to follow her suggestions. At either my next prenatal appointment or the one after that, I handed over hospital records and she could clearly see that in the pregnancy before, I was nearly induced for having high blood pressure. At the 36 week appointment, she took my blood pressure and it was high. Ironically, this occurred directly after handing her the very last payment for her services. She said she had to transfer care and called Bellin to set up an appointment for me to be seen that day. I felt sorrow that my birth plan was not going to happen and I felt a little bit untrusting of Jill from that point on because it happened so fast, because I thought she would have then suggested remedies to decrease my blood pressure and do a re-check later, and because it happened with such little emotion on her part. She called later to apologize for not giving me a hug at the time but I still felt untrusting of her. The doctors didn't find my blood pressure high enough to induce that day but they did a recheck the next week and did find my blood pressure to be too high. I was then admitted to the hospital for an induction. I feel mislead, like Jill saw my records and knew my difficulty from the prior two out of three births that I had had, but did not explain to me that I was not a good candidate for homebirth. Even after seeing my hospital records, she could have explained that she did not realize how difficult my problem was and ended care there. My husband and I blew through our $10,000 deductible and had to pay Jill $3600 on top of it plus lab fees because she was not at all covered by insurance. She did come to the hospital for last 5-6 hours of labor and the birth (the induction lasted about 27 hours) to provide counter-pressure during the hard labor pains and to talk me out of getting pain medication when it hurt the worst. She had a nice personality and she did talk to a nasty pediatrician about her doing a prenatal visit for us at our home after discharge from the hospital. I just feel a little misled that I was told I was a candidate for homebirth when I was not.
