Just moved to Appleton from Portland Oregon and the Schroeder folks made the move so easy. Holly at the main office was easy to reach and on top of everything. And Mel, driving the truck and managing the unload in Appleton was totally awesome as were the other guys doing the unloading. It almost made moving fun... OK, no one will believe that, but it couldn't have been smoother.
They were wonderful to work with! Everything was organized and well communicated. The packing was carefully done--every item arrived as it left. The driver and coordinator did an excellent job guiding us thru!
I waited 2 months before making this review so I could cool down with how mad I was at them and make a good review. Schroeder (United Van Lines) made this move 10 times worse than it needed to be. The only good part of the move, was the movers in Green Bay, WI with Mayflower did a great job packing and were very friendly. The movers in Kernersville, NC were rude, didn't lay down any carpet mats, and were'nt careful with any of the items. Schroeder moving in Appleton, WI made it worse. The salesmen (Terry Wuethrich) is a liar and one I will never recommend. He not only lied about what United can do and how they can move faster than any company in the world, he bad mouthed the competition (over and over again) for how fast they could get my stuff down here because it's one truck per load. He looked so pathetic when all he talked about was the competition being bad more than United being good. Then United told me they would get it there June 5th because I would be moving in then and it shouldn't be a problem. It was June 13th before getting it. They didn't know it would be here then until the 12th. Try scheduling something! I had to spend 2 weeks in a hotel because I moved 900 miles and didn't know when it would be here. The only penalty for United was I got $100. Big deal when I had two weeks expenses in a hotel.
Customer service rep and sales person have poor communication skills. I have emails from them that state one thing as far as moving dates and then when it came time for the move, there were different dates. They made no apology for the inconvenience. It made the move very stressful. For the cost, I would not use Schroeder again. The workers that came to our house worked hard.
We recently completed a move from Wisconsin to Minnesota. Schroeder's handling of the move was excellent. From estimate to final delivery of our household goods, everything went smoothly. Every step was on time and our goods arrived without a single new scratch.
