Decent book and magazine selection, but the prices can run a little steep.

Great selection of magazines. Very nice staff. Quiet and soothing. Nobody bugs you while you browse.
An absolute nightmare. NEVER go in here. Trust me this is worth the lengthy read. My SO and I walked in on Thursday, February 23 at roughly 1:15 pm (I wrote down the time later for such a review). She (blonde, late 40s) promptly greeted us, mistakenly called my SO a lady because of his long hair. It happens all the time, was nothing to worry about, and we had a good laugh. So my first impression was that she was a nice employee. So we proceed to split up to go check out our respective sections. After some time we meet up with each a book in hand SO FAR. WE WERE STILL CLEARLY SHOPPING. While discussing what we each have, this woman (the only employee so as not to be confusing) promptly walks up and swipes the book from my SO's hand and firmly tells him she will hold onto it up front until he's ready to check out. Then turns to me and holds out her hand demanding I do the same, to which I reply "That is okay, I'm not sure if I'll be getting this one just yet". She was very dissatisfied and had told me to bring it up to her if I decided not to purchase it anyway and that SHE will put it back. Now, bear in mind that she was telling me these things all while standing in front of the section it was from (Humor) with a big naked spot where it belonged. Quite hard to miss. I was utterly shocked at how she treated us. I then decided that I would place the book back on the shelf and leave. However, my SO, afraid what to do, even after I advised him not to, went up front to buy the book she had taken away. She was horribly rude and short with us, all with a seething accusatory tone. I made sure to audibly remind him to ask for his receipt as with a woman like this, you never know what she might do. AFTER he paid, she then turned to me to ask me if I wanted to purchase my book. I had no book in hand. I had said no. I was dumbfounded. If I had a book to buy, wouldn't I have placed it on the counter, let alone before the transaction was completed?? She was a monster. And I am not exaggerating. Never have I ever been treated in such a manner, especially without provoking such behavior. I have always treated retail employees with high respect as I know how draining that job is. Little did she know we were walking around with four grand ready to blow for the day. A lot of it in this store ( we have 5 large bookshelves at home, we both are avid readers). So much for supporting small businesses. If you care about your business, PLEASE get rid of such an evil person. I know that seems like a far stretch considering, but there was a lot of ugliness shown to us that isn't exactly easy to describe here. Good. Luck.
I’m sad to see it closing. I’m through town at Christmas and found the prices/selection for books to be lower than MSP. This store will be missed in a college town.
Their return policy is a joke. I spent way too much money in that store. I got ripped off.
